Omaha, Nebraska - 4 October, 2005 -

Aubyn and Matt Fowler stumbled into Tradebank just over two years ago, when they were referred by another client to join. They were the owners of The JukeBox, a trendy restaurant and sports bar located in the Wichita, Kansas area. For the most part, the Fowlers enjoyed their business, but the time and energy it takes to run a restaurant and a family took a toll on them. Their story starts a few years ago, when Matt was transferred to Wichita for a job offer. Originating from Omaha, Nebraska, the couple chose to move because they thought it was a wise decision for the family. But being a stay-at-home mom soon wore on Aubyn, as her kids spent the majority of their time in school. Having already acquired some experience in the restaurant business, she strongly considered opening her own restaurant. One evening she presented the idea to her husband, Matt, and he agreed with her it would be a great opportunity. However, running your own restaurant means giving a lot of your personal time to the business. "I grew tired of never seeing my family, of the restaurant eating away at our time with the kids, of going to bed every night at 3am. It was time to call it a day." Aubyn recalls of their decision to end the JukeBox restaurant. "The lease came up for renewal, and we just didn't renew." But now what would the Fowlers do? Surprisingly, they already had a plan in mind. "During July 2005, we took a trip back home to Omaha. Seeing family and friends, and our old home made us miss what we left years ago." The Fowlers spent a little time during their trip to Omaha looking for a house, but not seriously considering moving. Instead, they put faith in the old saying: what's meant to be is meant to be. Before they left Omaha to return to Wichita, they put a bid on a house. As luck would have it, they received a phone call during the car ride back, informing the Fowlers they had just bought a new home. "We were so excited, but we didn't know exactly what we were going to do. We had briefly thought about opening our own Tradebank region, and after realizing we'd be moving, looked further into the opportunity." Fast forward to September of 2005, and the Fowlers have become the proud owners of the Omaha, Nebraska region. Moving on trade was useful to the Fowler family too. In order to prepare their old home for the real estate market, they needed to get the house painted and carpets cleaned. They had the oil changed in their four vehicles.
