Ricky's Restaurants has long been famous for their Big Breakfast classics featuring big servings and big taste. But now, through their affiliation with Sunshine Dreams For Kids, they're also serving-up a big opportunity to help improve the lives of less fortunate children. Through an ongoing series of menu-oriented promotions and external fund raising activities, Ricky's intends to raise and donate funds on behalf of its new charity partner -- Sunshine Dreams For Kids. The 50 location restaurant chain, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, recently made a $ 10,000 donation to Sunshine Dreams For Kids. The cheque was presented to Bob King (of the Fraser Valley chapter) by Brenda Williams, Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications for Ricky's Restaurants. "This contribution is just beginning of our ongoing commitment to Sunshine Dream for Kids", stated Williams. After a lengthy search for a fitting charity partner, Ricky's eventually selected Sunshine Dream For Kids as its official corporate charity partner because of the family oriented nature of both organizations. Williams explained "At Ricky's, we have a heritage based on the family, and we felt Sunshine's mandate to help kids was a natural fit." Williams went on to say "we expect the association with Sunshine Dreams For Kids to raise money as well as employee morale". In fact, within a few weeks of the partnership announcement, various employees ? from head office & local franchise staff -- had begun planning their own Sunshine Dream for Kids fund raising activities. Furthermore, the owner of the Lloydminster Ricky's was so enthusiastic about the affiliation that he even helped found a chapter for his local area. Sunshine Dreams for Kids is a grass roots charity organization with local chapters across Canada. The objective of the national organization is to make once-in-a-lifetime dreams come true for children ages 3 to 19 who are challenged by severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses. These special "dreams" have ranged from the purchase of specialty computers and musical instruments to trips to Disneyland and to see family in distant countries. Since 1987 over 5000 kids have benefited from the generosity of Sunshine Dreams for Kids and partners like Ricky's.
