Robert and Joanne Moulton, owners and operators of Rent-A-Wreck of Lebanon, the convenient and cost-saving neighborhood car rental company, are celebrating their 25th year of success this month. Since joining the Rent-A-Wreck system, the Lebanon fleet has grown to include a variety of vehicles. Located at 237 Hanover street in Lebanon, N. H., Robert and Joanne's Rent-A-Wreck is one of more than 350 franchise locations worldwide. Robert and Joanne teamed up to be business partners shortly after they got married 21 years ago. Joanne joined Robert in running his other business called The Muffler House a full service garage specializing in exhaust systems as well as full repairs and tune ups. Three years later they were presented with an opportunity to expand and soon added Rent-A-Wreck of Lebanon to the same building housing The Muffler House. The two businesses go hand-in-hand; rental cars are repaired and maintained by Robert's shop. This helps Moultons save money and pass the savings on to their customers. "Our focus over the past 25 years has been to meet the transportation needs of the community. We've made the Rent-A-Wreck name stand for quality and service," said Robert, who recalls the time when he and Joanne drove to New York during Thanksgiving to help out customers whose car broke down. The customers and Moultons had Thanksgiving dinner together, before riding back to Lebanon in the same car and singing to pass the time. Despite the long time, Joanne says the years have gone by very quickly. She recalls their modest beginning with only two cars completing their fleet. Their cheap rates quickly became popular with college students and allowed the business to grow. The younger clientele brought a certain excitement to Rent-A-Wreck. "I really enjoyed renting to these kids and watching them get ready for school, weekend or summer," said Joanne. They are now planning to continue increasing their fleet size with newer makes and models. Rent-A-Wreck rents new and used cars, mini vans. Used vehicles are typically two to four years old. Every Rent-A-Wreck vehicle is expertly serviced and safety inspected before each rental. Most standard sized and models, including mini vans and are available.
