Hattiesburg And Gulfport, Miss. - 9 June, 2006 -

Brett Henson, owner of Rent-A-Wreck of Gulfport and Hattiesburg, MS was recognized as the Rent-A-Wreck Licensee of the Year in front of a group of fellow licensees and representatives from Rent-A-Wreck's home office at the National Meeting at the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Brett, a former insurance agent, opened Rent-A-Wreck in Hattiesburg over 12 years ago and last September he set plans in motion to expand with a second location in Gulfport. Those plans were temporarily interrupted when hurricane Katrina hit the coast on the eve of Rent-A-Wreck of Gulfport's grand opening. The storm destroyed the building's roof and damaged the fleet. Despite this major hurdle, Brett was determined to not let it get in the way of serving his customers at a time when they needed him the most. Many FEMA workers, volunteers and local people whose cars were lost or damaged needed transportation to evacuate and get around. Henson responded by quickly fixing his cars and using a travel trailer in place of the office to run his business. Despite such high demand, Brett was determined to not charge higher rates. He wanted to help the community and make loyal customers; not take advantage of them. His perseverance, determination and great help from his staff and managers Randy, Carey, Meg and James helped Henson's businesses ultimately grow and earn him the Rent-A-Wreck Licensee of the Year award.
