The RE/MAX Satellite Network (RSN) has added two more top industry honors to its growing list of award winning productions. The International Film and Video Festival honored two RSN programs with its coveted Silver Screen Awards. The first winner "First Step Into Space: The Story of the Pre-Astronauts." tells the story of space exploration pioneer Colonel Joe Kittinger's 1960 balloon flight to the outer edges of earth's atmosphere. The flight, which was a precursor to NASA's space exploration, carried Kittinger to a world record altitude of 102,800 feet at which point he jumped from his specially designed balloon. In addition to setting several world records that still stand to this day, Kittinger is a member of National Aviation Hall of Fame and the International Space Hall of Fame. He was also named one of the 100 most significant aviators in history. Colonel Kittinger's relationship with RE/MAX International started in 1998 as a consultant on RE/MAX cofounder and chairman Dave Liniger's "Around The World" balloon mission. Kittinger also served with Liniger as co-chairman of the "RE/MAX Balloon Celebration" marking the 100th anniversary of powered flight. RSN and Children's Miracle Network teamed up for the second Silver Screen Award for their profile of 2006 CMN Miracle Child Kayla Allain. The 12 year old girl, who battled a birth defect that left her with no arms and later in life underwent a kidney transplant, with her mother as the donor, become an inspiration to millions of children and adults around the world. "Awards such as the Silver Screen are a tribute to the outstanding efforts our tremendous staff puts in each and every day", said RSN senior vice president Mike Ryan. "It is an honor to share these inspiring and heartwarming stories with our entire membership." The International Film and Video festival received more than 1.250 entries from 2006 countries as part of its 39th annual awards competition. Other festival winners include ABC News, Discovery Networks, The Rochester Institute of Technology, and The National Gallery of Art. RSN was the first and remains the only proprietary real estate television network. Programs are broadcast over the DISH Network, reaching 82,000 RE/MAX associates in over 7,800 residential and office downlinks throughout North America. Video streaming programs are also available to more than 119,000 RE/MAX associates worldwide on the extranet site, RE/MAX Mainstreet. This article has been read 739 times .
