PostalAnnex+, a full-service postal, packaging and business services franchise, announced a new advertising program aimed at cell phone users. Based on a "location-based service" developed by Astroleap, Inc., users download a program named Eureka!Mobile to their cell phone or other mobile device and view promotional offers from businesses based on the users' location at the time of query. Initial rollout of the program will occur in San Diego County where PostalAnnex+ has over 65 locations. "We think this is a great addition to the convenience we already offer our customers, especially for those who are looking at the last-minute to ship an overnight package," said Steve Goble, director of marketing communications for PostalAnnex+ For example, cell phone users who have opted-in and downloaded the program to their cell phone will be able to browse categories of services. When users select the shipping category, they will be shown the PostalAnnex+ offer. Based on their then-current location via global positioning system (GPS) technology, they will be directed to the nearest PostalAnnex+ store. Users also will have the option of entering a zip code or address in case they are still traveling to a location. Once they find the PostalAnnex+ location that fits their need, they also will be able to download maps, directions, the address and phone number of the store as well. Users may save the promotional offer to their cell phone or display it at the time of the transaction. Offers will be redeemable only once and are automatically erased from the cell phone after redemption or expiration. PostalAnnex+ stores will be notified in advance of current offers and are protected from counterfeit offers on cell phones via Eureka!Mobile's technology.
