The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced that it has signed a one-year sponsorship agreement with Accor North America’s Motel 6 brand. The agreement makes Motel 6 the official lodging partner of the PBA, Strike Ten Entertainment and the Bowling Proprietors Association of America. In addition, Motel 6 will have special event entitlement of a new, high stakes, winner-take-all competition to be contested after the completion of the 2004-05 PBA Tour season. The winner will walk away with $200,000, the richest grand prize in PBA history. “This deal not only benefits the PBA, but the bowling industry as a whole,” said PBA Tour Commissioner Fred Schreyer. “Motel 6 provides us with a sponsor to produce a special PBA Tour event this season, and in return the Motel 6 brand will be visible to the millions of people who bowl each year.” “Partnering with the PBA is a great fit for Motel 6. The special event will be taped Thursday, April 14 at Main Event Entertainment in Ft. Worth, Texas, and will air during two one-hour segments Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17 on ESPN. In addition, three exempt PBA Tour bowlers David Traber, Patrick Girard and Hugh Miller will be sponsored by Motel 6 in the season-long PBA Sponsor Championship Competition. This week, the PBA Tour is at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis for the 2005 PBA Baby Ruth Real Deal Classic. The final rounds will air live on ESPN Sunday, March 6 at 12:30 p.m. EST.
