Greenville Store Opens

Greenville - 5 January, 2006 -

Firehouse Subs, one of the nation's fastest-growing sandwich chains, has opened its eighth restaurant in the Upstate of South Carolina at 2106 Augusta Road, on the corner of Augusta and Faris roads in Greenville. This the 24th ‘station' in South Carolina for Firehouse Subs, a family-friendly, quick-service restaurant open seven days a week serving generously sized, steamed sub sandwiches from morning to night. Other items that have proven to be community favorites are the Chief's salad and "Award Winning" Chili, along with the free fireman's hat that accompanies kids' meals. The new restaurant seats 50 and features gear and various photographs donated by the Greenville City Fire Department. Murals depicting local fire department scenes appear on the walls surrounding the Dalmatian-spotted tabletops. "Firehouse Subs was started by firefighters, and it's important for us to represent the local fire and police forces from the area in our restaurant," said Elliott Goldsmith, franchise owner of the new location. "We're actually located right across the street from the City of Greenville's Station 3, and we've already developed a strong bond with the firefighters there." -more- Firehouse Subs Opens in Greenville/add one This is the third Firehouse Subs location opened by Goldsmith, a Greenville native who attended Wofford College just up the road in Spartanburg. He discovered the company while working for NewSouth Communications in Firehouse Subs' hometown of Jacksonville, Fla. "I liked the concept so much I moved back to the Upstate and opened the area's first Firehouse Subs in Mauldin back in 2002," said Goldsmith, referring to the store located at 301 W. Butler Road. Goldsmith opened his second store in February 2004 at 219 Pelham Road in Greenville. "I think there's still a lot of growth potential for Firehouse Subs here," Goldsmith added. "The food is unique, from the quality of the ingredients to the preparation method to the menu items, and the firehouse theme is popular among a broad range of people. We're excited about the future of Firehouse Subs here in the Upstate."
