Extreme Pita In Kearny Mesa Celebrates First Year

Kearny Mesa - 14 June, 2006 -

If you've made it to the one-year mark in the extremely competitive restaurant fast/food business, you are well on your way. That's why Brett Weiss and his energetic staff had a little celebration in May in honor of their first anniversary. I am not surprised that this unusual, innovative concept took off right away at Extreme Pita, where tasty rolled pita sandwiches are the signature item. For a week in mid-may Extreme Pita featured a number of fun promotions including a kids eat free promo, special combo prices and other fun incentives. But, folks, really, you don't need a price incentive to eat here. The food stands on its own; it's healthy, it's tasty and it's affordable. Extreme Pita is a nationwide chain that started in 1997 in Canada. Since that time they have been in the fast growth mode, now surpassing the more then 160 restaurant mark. Brett is the San Diego area developer and is happy to discuss franchising with any interested parties. The specialty here is the rolled pita sandwich filled with items such as tuna, grilled chicken, gyros, falafel and turkey, mixed with various vegetables, add-ons and dressings. They are fantastic; you'll love them. You walk to the counter, order your pita and watch the staff assemble it on the spot, to order, on their "conveyor belt" like station. The Extreme Pitas come in small and regular size and are priced from$3.79 to $6.29. Among the most popular choices are the "Supremes," like the Greek Chicken Colossus (filled with chicken Souvlaki, Greek salad and feta cheese dressing), the Beef bistro (sliced beef in a creamy Dijon horseradish bistro sauce) or the delicious Philly Cheese Steak (with melted mozzarella). Also listed is a Ranchero chicken and a Chicken Caesar supreme Extreme Pita. Among the Originals are one made with veggies, another with gyros, one with roast turkey, one with tuna and one called the club with turkey, ham and bacon. Add-ons include bacon, cheese, guacamole and double meat. Sauces include tzatiki, hummus, guacamole, chipotle mayo, hot Cajun barbecue, honey mustard and Greek feta. Also listed on the menu are flat bake pitas topped with a variety of items, and fabulous salads. A large chart displays the nutritional breakdown of the signature items. A catering service is available, as are kids value meals. Extreme Pita is at 4898 Convoy St. Call (858) 560-0142.
